【摘要】:Sensorythresholdsareusedtodeterminethepotentialofsubstancesatlowconcentrationstoimpartodor,taste,skinfeel,etc.tosomeformofmatter.Thresholdsareused,forexample,insettinglimitsforairpollution,innoiseabatement,inwatertreatment,andinfoodsystems.Thresholdsareusedtocharacterizeandcomparethesensitivityofindividualorgroupstogivenstimuli,forexample,inmedicine,inethnicstudies,andinthestudyofanimalspecies.1.1Thispracticedescribesarapidtestfordeterminingsensorythresholdsofanysubstanceinanymedium.1.2Itprescribesanoveralldesignofsamplepreparationandaprocedureforcalculatingtheresults.1.3Thethresholdmaybecharacterizedasbeingeither(a)onlydetection(awareness)thataverysmallamountofaddedsubstanceispresentbutnotnecessarilyrecognizable,or(b)recognitionofthenatureoftheaddedsubstance.1.4Themediummaybeagas,suchasair,aliquid,suchaswaterorsomebeverage,orasolidformofmatter.Themediummaybeodorlessortasteless,ormayexhibitacharacteristicodorortasteperse.1.5Thispracticedescribestheuseofamultipleforced-choicesamplepresentationmethodinanascendingconcentrationseries,similartothemethodoflimits.1.6Physicalmethodsofsamplepresentationforthresholddeterminationarenotapartofthispractice,andwilldependonthephysicalstate,size,shape,availability,andotherpropertiesofthesamples.1.7Itisrecognizedthatthedegreeoftrainingreceivedbyapanelwithaparticularsubstancemayhaveaprofoundinfluenceonthethresholdobtainedwiththatsubstance(1).1.8Thresholdsdeterminedbyusingonephysicalmethodofpresentationarenotnecessarilyequivalenttovaluesobtainedbyanothermethod.
